2025: Year in Review

Happy 5th year of making one of these posts. It’s become a bit of a weird tradition of just writing about my life, I recently went through all of the previous years while updating my website design and it was quite interesting to see what’s changed over the years; not very much. But alas, here we go. Happy 2026, cya later 2025.

News of The Year and or Highlights

I didn’t really keep track of the news this year, so none of this is in order. Enjoy!

The most important news item of 2025 is the fact Scotland has gotten into the World Cup for the first time since 1998. I was 1. I am now 6,7 28. AI has genuinely taken over the world, with Generative AI no longer being a novelty but being used in peoples daily life everywhere, as well as causing RAM to skyrocket so that’s great - fucking AI.

The United Kingdom decided to introduce the Online Safety Act to “protect children”, which has definitely worked and not just increased VPN usage across the UK. Nepal’s Government got overthrown by Gen-Z and Discord was used to vote in their new Governement which is probably the funniest thing I’ve seen this year. Maybe we should do that in the UK?

Some absolute idiot decided he was a descendant of King David and claim to be a lost tribe of the Hebrews reclaiming their land that was stolen from them 400 years ago, or some meth brain rot shit like that. There was also the whole Kira Cousins saga with fake baby Bonnie-Leigh, that was interesting to say the least.

Millport, the place where I grew up had an interesting Dildo Saga after a storm where hundreds of Dildos watched up on the beach. Let me tell you, small towns are boring until Dildos wash up on the beach - then everyone gets involved in the Facebook Groups.

Rockstar released Trailer 2 for Grand Theft Auto VI, the game that was meant to come out in May 2025 is now coming out in May 2026 November 2026. Charlie Kirk got assassinated, South Park didn’t take the piss out of it and absolutely everyone is wondering why.

Near the end of the year there were some Epstein related files that leaked that had some semi-confirmation that Donald Trump, the president of the United States, sucked off Bill Clinton. It then came out not long after that it may have actually been a horse, with the same nickname. Do with that, what you will. On the topic of Donald Trump, South Park decided to animate him going to pound town with JD Vance - oh boss, it’s so big.

And as I’m writing this post, the UK got some weird Flu again which knocked me on all fours and now I sound like I’ve smoked for 60 years. #manflu They also just released the Epstein Files, which where overly redacted while also being entirely possible to redact. #Merica

I watched 60 different shows this year with a total watch time of 15.77 days (378.55 hours), which is about 31.54 hours per month with my most watched show being Dexter. My most-watched week was Jul 28 - Aug 3 with 48 plays across 48 different shows. I watched 575 episodes this year, which is down from 635 in 2024 and up from 337 in 2023.

My first watch of the year was Sassy the Sasquatch S01E06, my last was Dexter S06E11. My top studio for 2025 was CBS.

My highest rated shows this year were Ghosts (UK), Ghosts (US), The Big Lez Show, Murderbot and Mr Inbetween.

Movies

I watched 43 different movies this year with a total watch time of 75.9 hours, which is about 6.3 hours per month. My most-watched Week was Nov 3 - Nov 9 with 2 plays. I watched movies 43 times this year, which is down from 2024 with 88 times, 77 times in 2023, 57 in 2022, 111 in 2021 and 140 in 2020.

I didn’t watch any movie more than once this year, so this is just in the order of most-played based on hours.

Music

In 2025 I scrobbled 15,667 times with a daily average of 42 plays, up from 13,634 and 37 plays in 2024. I scrobbled 4,242 unique songs down from 5,437 in 2024. My top five songs for the year where:

I played 82 different games this year, with a total play time of 772.9 hours. A monthly average of 64.4 hours, and a weekly average of 14.9 hours. My most played game was Call of Duty Black Ops 6 (Zombies). My most-played week was Week 30 with 49.6 hours, and my most-played month was January with 89.5 hours.

Projects

Pretty quiet project wise again this year as I’m still working on the rewrite of gametrakr that I started in 2024. It’s nearing completion, but I hit some feature creep and had to step back for a bit before I wore myself out and made some other things during that gap.

At the time of writing there has been 35 git commits this year. I also rewrote the entire site from the ground up in October of this year.
